We are seriously thinking of taking this trip and adding the extension to Berlin, but the price for the extension seems quite high. Has anybody done this extension? Is it worth it considering the cost?

Hello temluv, Did you see the catalog for next year? Not only did the price for the extension to Berlin increase by $100, but the overall trip increased by $200. per person. We, too, have been looking at this but am not sure if we can do it this year to avoid the increase. Wow, kind of disappointing.

I agree, Joek. We travel with Odysseys at least twice a year. We love the company. However, I have no idea how they can charge so much for 3 nights in Berlin - and completely on your own. The train from Prague does not cost 5 to 6 hundred dollars a person, so I have no idea where the high price of the extension comes from. Certainly not from the hotel, because I have cheeked the Berlin hotel's site very carefully.

We, too, have travelled with Odysseys about 7 times thus far. I love their product, but every once in a while I do not like their price increases. This is one of those "every once in a while's".

I looked up at cost of the hotel and the top price was about $220 with breakfast. I didn't check out the train cost, but even if it was $100+ pp, it appears OU is charging about double. I have always thought their extension prices were very high, and so we have never done one on our 7 trips with them. I hope they think about their pricing as in general, they are very good value overall.

We just returned from this trip in July. We also thought the extension was too pricey. We DID go to Berlin, but we did it on our own, which is not difficult. We did not like the location of the Odysseys hotel (although it looked very nice) on the other side of the Tiergarten, so we booked the Adlon Kempinski (fabulous) next to the Brandenburg Gate. It was pricey, but worth every penny! The train from Prague in first class costs just under $100 p/p. Odysseys does not provide first class service on the extension. There are many free walking tours starting at the Brandenburg Gate each day. They are operated by students and/or very talented and knowledgeable tour guides. They work for "tips". We took one and found it to be excellent.
