We plan to obtain our visa upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport. We have 2013 $20. US notes to pay the $100. visa fee for each of us. These notes are in good condition but have been circulated so not "new". Will these notes be accepted for the visa? I have read that you need $50 or $100 notes for the fee. So are the $20 denominations ok? Thanks.

Hi You may certainly obtain the Tanzania visa upon arrival in Kilimanjaro at a cost of approximately $100US per person. You may pay for the visa in denominations of $20, $50, or $100, but you MUST use clean, crisp US dollars dated 2005 or later (currency dated earlier may not be accepted). We wish you a wonderful safari; should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email or by calling our Customer Service department, toll-free at (888) 370-6765, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET.

Is it advisable to get the visa beforehand or is it just as easy at the airport?

Hi missoulasue, We recommend that you obtain your Tanzania on site. You will need to be prepared with $100 USD per person (cash only – clean, crisp US dollars that must be dated 2005 or later as currency dated earlier, may not be accepted). You will not need additional passport photos when getting your visa this way. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Service department, toll-free at (888) 370-6765 or by email at customerservice@odysseys-unlimited.com
