We will be taking the Exploring Iceland tour, with a few days prior to the tour, on own. Can someone please suggest a good, centrally located hotel in Reykjavik, as well as ground transport from the airport to city center? Thank you.

We stayed at the Hotel Fron and it was perfectly adequate with a smorgasbord breakfast buffet and a great location. I highly recommend Reykjavik Excursions for your airport transfer. If it happens that you're flying Icelandair, you can by the tickets on the plane.

Thank you so much for your reply. We have booked the new Canopy Hilton for our 1 night stay. I will certainly check out Reykjavik Excursions for our group transfer! We will most likely be flying Delta as opposed to Iceland Air. I have heard some very negative comments about the comfort of Iceland Air's seats. Denise

Despite my screen name, I live in the Portland, OR area and there's a nonstop flight from Portland to Reykjavik twice a week. That was our rationale for choosing Icelandair. Up and over, piece o' cake!

Up and over, piece o' cake! Hi, Going from OR or WA (on the "Left" Coast) is up and over. We live in SOCAL, so there is a stopover, regardless of who we fly (Icelandair or Delta). We were told by several friends that Icelandair seats are very crammed and uncomfortable in Economy, even in their more "comfortable" Economy. With that said, Delta offers a Comfort Economy affording more legroom. So, we are most likely opting for Delta. BTW, our daughter lives in Tualatin. Love the Portland area! So beautiful.

It's tough. Us lefties have the advantage going to Asia, but the east coast has it all over us going to Europe.
