Good afternoon from Japan!
I recently returned from OU's fantastic "Pearls of Dalmatia" with optional Dubrovnik extension, and wanted to share my experiences with other OU guests who may be considering day trips to Bosnia / Montenegro.
After much research, I booked a hands-on cooking class in Trsteno with the lovely Katija; you cook a full meal together in her beautiful home located right next to the Trsteno Arboreteum (there are several available menus including meat cooked under a peka as well as several fish menus). Katija was a joy to cook alongside and you pick vegetables from her garden and prepare everything together, including breads, appetizers and desserts. The company I used was Secret Dalmatia, and they also offer other cooking classes around Croatia. www.culinary-croatia.com/cooking-classes/cooking-class-in-trsteno.html
For my two day trips, I used Dubrovnik Top Tours; this family-owned company excels at personalized service and their excellent guides Igor, Boris and Marijan will happily customize your day trip to include local gems, great restaurants, photo spots, additional stops, etc. I had Marijan as my driver / guide for two days in Bosnia (Pocitelj, Kravice, Mostar, Blagaj) and Montenegro (Perast, Bay of Kotor) and he was excellent; he gave very interesting commentary into the region's history, recent conflict, loads of interesting facts, and he pointed out photo spots and areas he knew would be of interest for me. I never felt rushed and he was always happy to give more time or to assist. www.dubrovniktoptours.com/
The three-day extension was the perfect way to explore more of Dubrovnik and surrounding countries in-depth and I highly recommend both Secret Dalmatia and Dubrovnik Top Tours to anyone considering the extension!!
If anyone is interested in seeing my trip photos from Pearls of Dalmatia and Bosnia / Montenegro, my photos are at: drive.google.com/open?id=0B6sm7-vQaAWBLTFtS0czbW9XLWc
Thanks,
Sarah
